Aviagen Hatchery Management Guide

Treatments: From day 1 to day 11, the broilers were fed a commercial broiler starter diet (Aviagen® Arbor Acres®). From day 12 to day 22, the birds were fed a commercial broiler finisher diet (Aviagen® Indian River®). The first diet was fed to birds with a well-balanced metabolizable energy intake, and birds were fasted for 12 hours between days 11 and 12. The second diet was fed to birds with a progressively increasing metabolizable energy intake (from day 12 to day 22) to reach the highest energy intake at the end of the experiment, and birds were fasted for 6 hours between days 22 and 23. Feed consumption was recorded for 24 hours, and the metabolizable energy intake was calculated on the basis of the difference in weight between the initial and final body weight. The diet contains 17% crude protein, 8% total fat, and 7% crude fiber on DM basis. The control diet was fed throughout the whole experiment. Diets were formulated to meet nutrient requirements for broilers as defined by [22].
